One Game and billions to make.. One Game and near hysteria.. One Game and lives made or destroyed… One Game and The Religion… and Thats Cricket Honey.. In India. Cricket the first memory as a child was a long game played with decent looking guys in white. In recent years i haven’t seen a single match played by gentlemen in white. The riots of color and sounds have taken center stage. More than the bats and balls, its the players who do the talking…. and they make the most of it by playing to nations’ sentiments. The current format has brought a heady mixture for all.. a cocktail of Big Money, Superstars, Glamor, Glitz, Dance, Songs, Controversies and a bit of game called cricket. No doubt it gives such Highs to people all round the globe… I also proudly claim that I too love the colors surrounding what was once a black and white monochrome world of 22 players and few umpires… But the only thing that sometimes gnaws at my mind is the innocence of old world cricket. I miss the patience displayed by both teams in the most tensed situations. I miss pure talent and hard work talking rather than abusive language that is practiced as an art in the game now. I am not against aggression or deadly attitude.. but its the emotions at display under spotlights , that makes me uncomfortable. Would our children be able ever to able to remember Cricket as a Game of Gentlemen?
